I have been taking my daughter to get her birthday pictures for all of her birthdays (shes 3 now). The first two times we went i was on a very tight budget and have used the coupons. But after choosing my one pose I would get an email with my ither favorite pictures so my family could go and order another pose. Why?! Why have you changed it to only the one pose. Its not fair that if I have a very strict budget that I cant even have the option to order other poses later. I'm extremely disappointed and wont be going back.. Such a shame

Made an appointment and was assisted late and not offered any type of compensation equal to the other family in the store. Had pictures printed incorrectly and missing. I called immediately and was told that I had to wait until the next business day.

The worst customer service! 30 minutes after my SCHEDULED appointment time I am told it would be at least another hour before we could be photographed. What is the point of making an appointment if you can't see your customers for an hour and a half after the time?? This is the second time this has occurred and will not be returning.

Bait and switch

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went in on Tuesday to confirm rates and schedule a photo shoot for the next day. We agreed on a price ($30) and scheduled the shoot. When I came in for the shoot, they said that the lowest rate was now $100. Classic bait and switch. The photographer explained that the quoted price was for children only. If so, why did they quote it to me? I walked out angry. Do not do business with these thieves! I must admit that their product is very good having used them years back, but their sales tactics are deceptive.

Horrible Experience at Portrait Innovations- Never will return

We had the most horrific experience this past Friday at the Portrait Innovations in Miamisburg, Ohio. I have been there several times before to have my kids pictures taken (had interesting experiences in past, but none like this). My sister and I were taking our kids to have their picture takes for a gift for our mother for Christmas. We arrived at 9:20 AM. We didn't have but a 10 minute wait when a photographer by the name of Harrison came over and asked us to follow him to get started. We went into a room with a Christmas theme first. I saw this cute little plate with cookies sitting on the table and tried to show them to my 2 year old to get him more comfortable with the setting when Harrison told me to now show them because that is all my son would want the entire time. I was a little caught off guard with his demeanor but I didn't say anything. He went on and took about 50-60 different shots. In the middle of him taking pictures he walked away more than three times to take phone calls and check new customers in. (We had a 1,2,and 5 year old-- they lose patience quickly-- he didn't seem to care.) Here is where it took a turn for the worse. We sit down to look over our pictures. He showed us all the different shots and we had to pick our favorites. I went on to explain to him that although we loved them all we would only be able to choose the 1 pose package because we were on a tight budget. He went on to tell me I shouldn't do that because then I would lose all of the other photos and these precious memories. I told him I was sorry I couldn't spend more but this was all I had today to spend. He kept pressuring my sister and I to spend more. I finally (after 20 minutes of him going on and on) told him if he didn't stop with the pressuring we were going to have to leave. I literally felt threatened by him. He started back up again. We decided to pack the kids up and leave. We both were so blown away by what had just happened we couldn't speak. We ended up making an appointment at Pennys right next door in the mall and had a fantastic experience. We had a one-on-one, uninterrupted photo shoot-- and the lady we sat down with to go over our pictures was MORE than understanding when we told her we only had a certain amount of money to spend and she went over and beyond to work with us on it. The pictures turned out so much better there probably because our kids didn't have to wait 10 minute breaks for her to take phone calls and were all smiley! It was just fantastic at Penny's! Moral to my story: I will never return to Portrait Innovations. I am not sure if Harrison (the employee there) was trained to pressure his customers the way he did with us, but he was down right over the top. He spent 25 minutes trying to get me to spend more money than their 1 pose package deal they always have. I was embarrassed because I know there were other customers hearing us talk and me explaining I didn't have much money to spend. It was so humiliating and the worst photography experience I have ever had. Lesson learned.

As a former employee I can say that we are trained to pressure people into buying more than they want. The sales are really aggressive and that is why I left.

I do my own photography on the side and am going to school for photography and being in that spot and seeing the anger and heartbreak in a mothers eyes because of that pressure tore me up. I agree with you.

Do not go there. That company just cares about money.

first of all they say they have this so called NEW awesome app where you can view and share and order products...well that is NOT true. there is nothing on the app to even click to order other products or even see my pictures from my recent session! i guess they don't care to make extra money when i want to do my own order online with their products listed...beyond frustrating need i mention the drive to even my nearest studio to complain in person! FIX YOUR SO CALLED APP WHERE YOU SAY WE CAN DO ALL THESE THINGS AND YOU ACTUALLY CAN'T!

Portrait Innovations - Photo Service Review from Madisonville, Kentucky

I visited the PI in Evansville, IN. This was my 2nd visit. First visit went fine, but in a years time, customer service went down hill! The photographer would pause the session just to answer the phone (when other employees were present that could have answered) and also stopped to help another customer at the counter. Then when showing me the pics on the screen, again, she would just walk away to deal with other issues (and again, there were other employees in the store) . Then....I had looked online and the coupon was for 41 portrait package for $29.99 with a free 16X20 canvas....when I tried to get that, they said that was an add on feature, that you had to buy a bigger, more expensive package, then add the $29.99 deal on. When I mentioned that the website didn't say that (and I had drove 45 min to 1 hour to get there) they said "that's how we get customers in here"! Really!! False advertising!? They finally gave me the deal, but after I got it across to her that I wanted only 1 pose, she was very rude and short with me. I felt like I was being rushed to pick a pose, so I ended up with one I am not happy with! So I call today to speak to a manager, and find out that the lady that took the pictures and cashed me out (the rude one) IS the manager!! Her name is Amber...so if anyone from the corporate for PI sees this....your manager at the Evansville Indiana location is poor management material!!! It will definitely be a while before I go back, if ever!

I never said anything back to her because she had already scared my children. Not a place to go.

Rude Manager, Liz, at Wilmington, DE location

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
FYI For those of you that use Portrait Innovations...I was a faithful user of their services until I got my own camera 2 years ago. I started taking my own pictures for holidays, celebrations, etc. This year I thought I'd go back since I was running out of time and the price was right. Boy was that a mistake! They botched the pictures and then tried to tell me that the black spot in the picture was Rachel's stockings. Long story short, after a long fight and a very rude manager, Liz, I got a voucher to send in for a refund. However, they subtracted $20 so it actually cost me $20 to waste 4 hours of my life, come back 3x to the studio fighting for my money back and ending up with no pictures. THEY ARE HORRIBLE! (Wilmington location next to Trader Joe's). Corporate Customer Service was equally awful! Save your money. Take your own pictures or find a reputable photographer!

Portrait CD reprints

My name is Jennifer Norris and I can be reached at jennifer.norris79@***.com My family and I were in the Lafayette, IN studio on Dec. 26, 2015 at 10am.

My siblings, our kids and my mom got a family picture taken. We were pleased with the pictures that we had taken at the studio, but last night February 19, 2016 we went into Meijer in Lafayette, IN to print a couple pictures off the CD. After they were printed the staff member working at the photo department said he couldn't sell them to us because it had the watermark of Portrait Innovations on them. He said he need a written copyright release to sell them to us.

So by that time the Portrait Innovations studio was closed. We left the store with no pictures. This morning Feb. 20, 2016 my mom called the studio in Lafayette, IN and explained to them what happened and the girl she talked to said we didn't buy the high resolution package to get the copyright release.

If we wanted that we would have to spend $70 more and get two more prints to get the release. We don't want to spend more. We had already spent enough and besides we always get the package with the CD so we can make reprints. We have never been told we couldn't make reprints without the copyright release.

The person that took our pictures was Melissa W. We have always gone the Lafayette Studio because it is convenient and close to home (Reynolds, IN) and because we have been pleased with the pictures that are taken. Actually we went to Walgreen's.com after our studio session and downloaded a picture from the CD to make family picture cards and they printed them with no problem. I guarantee we will not be back to the Portrait Innovation Studio in Lafayette, IN or any other Portrait Innovations because of this.

We spend close to $300 every 6 months to a year.

I hope you understand my frustration in this matter and hope I hear from someone soon regarding this matter. Thanks so much!

I swear this just happened to me a couple of days ago but it wasn't meijer.... It was walgreens.

Im more upset with walgreens tho.... Like damn just sell me my *** pictures!!

I have been a customer of portrait innovations for some time now and I know the different collections vary with the CD. You more than likely didn't get a high enough collection for the full copyrights.

Since you have been there before how did you not know this? A lot of times people will get a smaller collections to try to print off pictures without the rights which is against the law....sounds like this is the case.

Thats not the case as i have used portrait inovations for years and i have never been told there was a different cd or that i couldn't print off the cds they dont tell you untill you want more prints so its not a case of not wanting to pay for the better package its a matter of bait and switch you convince ppl to get the cd to reprint then later try to scam them out of more money

No, that's not how Portrait Innovations operates. We found that out the hard way too - a HUGE family session, tons of portraits purchased, and were told that we were getting the premium CD.

But then it turned out there was no such thing - when I saw the contents of the CD and followed up, I was told they never sell a CD with the high resolution images & release.

Basically, they built a business model on lying and scamming people. No small wonder they had to file for bankruptcy.

We scheduled a week and a half in advance at the Graceland (Columbus Ohio) location. We walked in to a mad house of people everywhere right on time for our appointment and 4 people were still ahead of us. When we said we had an appointment we were told our appointment would have to be pushed back because other people were late. What a terrible way to run a business. We walked out and will never be back again. I will stick to good old Target!

Portrait Innovations - Manager Review from Dayton, Ohio

Worked at the Dayton, Ohio location which happens to be one of the busier locations and it was awful. I was constantly humiliated and embarrassed at the lying and at the disgust of people who couldn't spend more than 20 dollars. This company is founded on greed. They do not care about customers nor do they care about their own employees. Many times during the Christmas season I would get clocked out for lunch while still on an appointment with the promise of a break later.... That break never came. Straight 12 hours daily and I couldn't get even just thirty minutes. Name of that manager is Allen J Gill and the regional manager at the time was Amanda Reecer. At Portrait Innovations we were forced to maintain high averages as our jobs depended on them weekly. MIND YOU, we did not make commission. The manager in Dayton, Harrison is not so bad toward his employees, however he took it upon himself to take the least appointments and also cherry pick. He would pick appointments on assumptions that his customers would spend more. I worked alongside a guy who was the exact age and had the same birthday with the ONLY difference being that this employee was black and had extremely high consistent averages. Higher than our own manager, Harrison. However this employee would get treated like dirt. Even while being the better salesman AND photographer. I'm sorry but that is a problem. This is a company that forces its employees to treat their customers with disrespect and lack of dignity. It is also a company that does not believe in treating their employees with minimal respect. I would suggest taking your business elsewhere.
