I went to Portrait Innovations to get Christmas pictures of my granddaughter because my son received a flyer in the mail with a special that included the CD. The only reason for getting this more expensive package was to get the CD so we would have all the images and could print more than what we were getting at the studio. While sitting there viewing our pictures and deciding which ones to have printed as part of the package we even discussed the fact we planned to get more pictures printed. Still no one at Portrait Innovations felt the need to tell me the CD could not be used to print pictures.

When I put the CD into my computer I found that all the photos have a strip on them with copyright information and that there is no release form on the CD to print pictures. I called Portrait Innovations and was told that they don't do that. When I asked why I paid $155 for a package that included a CD, what was I paying for, I was told that the CD is so I can go back to them to get additional prints. I then asked how much they charged and was told $20 per sheet. I can't even get the 4" x 6" pictures I wanted for the collage frame I had intended to put them in because they don't print a sheet with that size pictures.

I feel they were intentionally deceptive to get the sale. I called and asked how everything worked with the package twice before making the appointment. No one mentioned that unlike every other studio out there, when you purchase a CD they do not provide a copyright release and you cannot print pictures from the CD.

They also told me I would get a link to their website that would have my pictures so I could order more. I can order stuff, just not actual pictures, just a bunch of junk like playing cards and ornaments, or pre-pictures at a ridiculous cost. The studio is an hour from my house and that is the only way I can get additional pictures, not that I would pay those prices anyway.

I will never use Portrait Innovations again.

Monetary Loss: $156.

Location: Charleston, Illinois

Go to a local photographer in your own town and keep the business there. That way you will know the individual you are dealing with and can go back to them if there is a problem.

You didnt PURCHASE the CD. It was included free with the number of poses you selected.

Company's that sell you the high resolution files on disk will be charging upwards of $300. Its a digital negative which you are free to use on you home computer, email, screensaver, upload to social media, etc. You just have to take it to PI if you want prints. The CD isnt sold separately bc you arent getting the rights, thus it wouldnt be fair to charge for it.

Side note: recent changes to our packaging DO include the hi-res files with any package over 15-poses.

Which is a comparable price range to what most companies charge for a hi-res disk of all your images. Do some market research before you complain.

Every other studio hands out their entire session on the CD with full high resolution images... AND THEY'RE ALL GOING OUT OF BUSINESS. :roll

the CD is FREE with the collection, Portrait Innovations does not sell them at all. I'm also at a loss as to why you would want cheaply made inferior prints of professional photos when you can have them professionally printed at the photo studio.

Portrait Innovations is protecting their brand by not having their photos printed on low quality paper.

Good stuff isn't cheap. Get used to it.
